Free and Reduced Lunch Application Now Online
PCSD#1 is now making it easier for parents to apply for free and reduced lunches. The free and reduced lunch application is available online. Log on to your PowerSchool parent account, click on the top right link that states "to register your student for the 2016-2017 school year click here". This will take you to another page where you will click on the lunch application. It is above the list of your students. If you have problems logging on to your PowerSchool, contact the office of the registrar, 307-322-3175 X 5026.

Comprehensive Improvement Plans submitted to WDE
Below are links to the Comprehensive Improvement Plans of each of the six Platte County #1 schools. These plans outline the goals and efforts to increase student achievement to meet the Wyoming Accountability in Education Act as set by the legislature. These plans will be submitted for review to the Wyoming Department of Education. Each school will continue to update these plans as a part of our continuous improvement process to help us “Reach the PEAK.” There are many opportunities for staff and community members to be involved in helping us improve. If you are interested, contact a building principal or take advantage of the many opportunities to provide feedback on our efforts.

Box Tops Spring Collection Ends at WMS
Wheatland Middle School is getting ready to send in our spring 2017 Box Top collection (must be postmarked March 1). They have 723 collected out of our 1000 Box Top goal. Each Box Top is worth 10¢. Please drop off at Wheatland Middle School ASAP. Thank-you for helping support our school library to purchase more books.

WMS 8th Graders Place at the Central Region Science Fair
Fourteen Wheatland Middle School 8th grade students placed at the Central Region Science Fair in Casper, WY on Saturday February 4th. In addition to winning first place in Microbiology, Anna Cecil was also named the 2017 Best in Show participant. She was awarded $100 from Natrona County Schools for her achievement. This year’s students have had several cooperating community businesses including Banner Health, Laramie River Station, and Wheatland Rural Electric Association. The students will travel to the University of Wyoming March 5-7 to compete at the Wyoming State Science Fair. Kody Micke from Glendo and Ally Van Why of Chugwater also qualified to attend the State Science Fair. WMS Students Give Back to Their Classmates
The Woodshop students at WMS have finished a project that has allowed for them to give back to their classmates. There was an identified need for equipment that could be used to help our students learn. The woodshop, under the direction of Mr. Kenny Collins, constructed balance boards at the request of another teacher. These balance boards allow for movement while learning and support the learning needs of many students. Each student completed a balance board and then donated them to the school. It is a great way for these students to leave their mark on our fantastic school! Way to go Bulldogs!!!
WMS LEGO Robotics Team Competes in Casper
Congratulations to the Wheatland Middle School LEGO Robotics Team for placing 3rd out of 48 teams for mechanical engineering. They also had the 5th highest score in the robot game. Team members pictured include (from left to right): Coach Miken Harnish, Leslie Louthan, James Kestie, Josh Prather, Gabe Plant, Jhett McDaniel, and Zeke Wardell. The competition was held at the Casper Event Center on Saturday, 12/3. GO BULLDOGS!!

Parent Communication Now Available Monthly
You will notice a new tab to the left of our WMS center page; "Parent Communication". This new communication will be updated each month to keep Wheatland Middle School parents and students informed of changes throughout the school year. Mr. Dziowago, WMS Principal, has made this communciation a great way to keep everyone aware of the happenings at the Middle School.
