Peak High School students are kicking off the school year by reading the classic novel The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton. To build background knowledge and help students better understand the novel’s setting, students are reviewing major events and cultural changes of the 1960s. Thanks to a grant, students will also have the opportunity to experience The Outsiders live at the Buell Theatre in Denver this September. Throughout the unit, students will participate in activities that connect the themes, characters, and conflicts of the novel to their own lives and the world around them.
