On Monday, December 14 the Principles of Democracy class from Wheatland High School participated in the 2020 We the People: Citizens and the Constitution competition.  The students were divided into six units and prepared eighteen essay questions, three for each unit.

The questions dealt with a wide variety whs students competeof issues pertaining to the U.S. Constitution from its origins to application.  The students competed over Zoom against twelve schools across the state as they delivered their opening statements and were quizzed by three judges for each of the units in a mock congressional hearing format. While the team overall did not place, our unit three team achieved the high score for that unit against all teams.  They learned a lot about the way our government works and were able to demonstrate their growth as citizens.
