At Wheatland Middle School, engaging students in their learning is an important component to their success. In an effort to help middle school students chart their course for future studies, we love to provide hands on instruction.  We are committed to providing students opportunities that promote growth and understanding to help them prepare for high school and beyond.

This fall and into the winter, WMS students have constructed a greenhouse through the help of Perkins grants to allow students to engage their learning at a higher level.  The greenhouse will be used for cross-curricular instruction and provide students instruction in agronomy and agriculture.  Plants and vegetables that are grown will be sold or used to supplement cooking supplies for our Life Skills class.

Through the guidance of Mrs. McIntosh and Mr. Teten, the students have helped construct and setup the greenhouse.  They have worked hard to get it up and going so they can learn the process of growing things during the cold winter months.  It is important to know that the students will be the people in charge of maintaining and making sure the project is a success.
