Peak High School is the state approved alternative high school located on the same campus as Wheatland High School. Peak HS began in the 2016-2017 school year. What began as a way for students to recover credits to attempt to graduate on time has expanded into a full service offering for students seeking a different pathway to graduation. Peak HS has helped over 50 students graduate who otherwise wouldn’t have. Under the philosophy of the Discovery model, Peak HS offers students growth in academic skills, social skills, and life skills. At the heart of Peak HS is a desire to ensure students have the skills they need to become successful members of their community.
Peak HS offers students the opportunity to complete courses through two virtual platforms including Edgenuity and SchoolsPLP. These options can happen in the brick and mortar setting or through our virtual education program. Students also have access to all electives through Wheatland HS. Teachers are committed to providing positive classroom experiences with opportunities for learning outside of the classroom. Students have opportunities to visit college and career pathways through campus and workplace visits. Peak HS students have the opportunity to develop a flexible schedule to build a schedule that supports core courses, elective courses, an after school gaming club, and work experiences.
Peak High School adds to the overall offering of Platte #1 by working with individual students' needs as they plan for life after high school. The mascot is the Dragon and at Peak High School we soar!
