WHS April 23 

Wheatland High School has carried on some traditions over the years. One of these traditions is the Electrical Safety Course. Each year, WHS partners with the Wheatland Rural Electric Association (REA) to have staff from the REA come to campus to share information about electrical safety. Students have the opportunity to learn from our community partners as well as be exposed to local jobs through this opportunity. Each year sophomores and seniors go through the course. It is typically part classroom learning and hands-on learning with the electrical trailer. This information is a life saver. Just a few years ago, students who were involved in an accident remembered their training involving a downed power line. Those students are alive because they stayed in their vehicle until the linemen had the power turned off and it was safe to exit. These local partnerships and learning opportunities are vital to the overall education of our students!
